Weekly Response #16

What is a powerful force in the world? Choose a force and explain its power, giving reasons for your answer in an expository paragraph. You can be as figurative (imagination) or literal (gravity) as you like.

This will be the final weekly response for the class, and it will be due June 14.

  1. The ocean is an extremely powerful force in this world, having the power to give life or death. Laughter, smiles, and joy can be derived from the merriment that can be the ocean. It is a place children and adults alike go to swim, relax, and enjoy life. It also brings life through the nourishment provided by the creatures of the sea and the hydrating water in which they live. But be careful, the ocean is not a merciful entity. Not all of its creatures are passive and many would sooner eat you as opposed to you eating them. In addition to its creatures, its powerful waves crash forcefully against the shores and can sweep away lives using strategies such as undertows and tsunamis. The ocean is powerful because it can divine good or bad in people’s lives, who are helpless against its will.

    • Thanks, Katie. I posted this weekly response too early. Mrs. Sowerby had a good idea for #15. I’m making this #16, due next Friday, so you can continue working on it, or leave it, and you’re done your weekly responses! Thanks for all your amazing input!

  2. Although this is probably the most cliche thing to say, love is probably one of the most powerful forces in the world. With love, the world has the potential to be the best place possible. I think a big part of why the world has so many problems in it is because of a lack of love and respect for others and ourselves. If everyone loved each other their would be no war, no terrible crimes like murder and rape, and no prejudices like racism or sexism. I think love really does hold the power to make our world a better place and eliminate pain and suffering.

  3. I’m not sure if this is what you are looking for, but I would say words are a powerful force of nature. The reason why I would say that is because words can either be a positive thing or a negative thing. People could get really hurt from something that someone says or it could make someones day by something that someone would say. Words also mean action. Many people say they would do something but they don’t do it.

  4. A powerful force in the world would be consumerism. It lures me in and makes me buy that product. When I’m in a store I get really anxious and I want to buy the whole entire store. Sometimes I can buy something and I can get buyer’s remorse. One time I bought clothes for myself and I ended up regretting I hardly wore it.
